CHESTER, VT – The Sprint Cars of New England 2012
Points Championship gets put on hold this weekend as The Fastest
Dirt Track Cars In New England™ stage their annual Triple Crown
Series, which has its own separate points tally. Billed as “Three
Nights, Three Tracks, One Winner,” the Triple Crown starts this
Friday at Canaan Dirt Speedway, moves to Bear Ridge Speedway on
Saturday and concludes on Sunday at Legion Speedway.
Drivers will be competing for a standard purse each night, with
extra loot being paid to the top point earners for the three race
series. In addition SCoNE honcho Mike Kondrat of Kondrat Kustoms has
put up an extra $1,500 to any driver who can win all three nights.
Winning all three nights of the SCoNE Triple Crown isn’t out of the
question; Dan Douville did it in 2010 and Clay Dow won two out of
three in 2011. They’re among the favorites this year, along with
perennial contender Chris Donnelly and rising star Matt Robie, the
only two drivers to win two features this season.
A special added attraction for this year’s Triple Crown Weekend is
the Sprint Car debut of three time and defending NEMA Midget
Champion Randy Cabral in the SCoNE guest car at Canaan on Friday. A
master on the pavement, the Plymouth, MA High School Automotive
Technology Teacher, will be making a rare appearance on dirt. “I
raced a USAC DMA Midget once at Bear Ridge and a Quad 4 Midget a
handful of times at Whip City, but that’s about it on dirt,” Cabral
said. “I can’t wait to try the Sprint Car, but I have to admit, I’m
more than just a little nervous about it.”
The first green flag is scheduled to drop at 7:00 pm on Friday,
6:00ish pm on Saturday and 5:00 pm on Sunday, at the conclusion of
hot laps. A full supporting cast appears each night, including the
mighty Modifieds. For more information, visit nesprintcars.com |
